For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [a]breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
(**REPOSTING DECEMBER 30, 2011)
My 5th memory verse in the 2009 Beth Moore challenge is Hebrews 4:12 and goes along with my reading from Oswald Chambers My Utmost For His Highest today. He says that only the Word of God is able to penetrate the core of our heart and it is a painful cut but with a healing intent if we submit to His scalpel. It is the bittersweetness of cutting open a wound to expose the infection, the deft incision to remove the toxins, the pouring in of the healing balm that soothes and restores. It is indeed an exquisite pain, meant to clean, heal and restore.
Our lives are full of 'infection', some passed down in our generational DNA, some as the result of our own wilful sin, some an overflow of someone's else's sin against us, some just from being part of a sinful world. That 'infection' clogs our senses so that we are unable to see, hear, feel, touch, smell in optimal functionality. Then God confronts us with His Word and the fog dissipates as Truth invades. Bondage is exchanged for freedom. His Word says (John 8:32 (NIV)), Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." This is a lifelong process.
I want that Word, that exquisitely painful piercing. I want to be free to live abundantly, to thrive and not just survive in every area of my life.
Do you?
Then join me in seeking His Word relentlessly. Like Peter, let us discover our true devotion to our Lord as Oswald Chambers devotion today says::
Have you felt the hurt of the Lord to the uncovered quick, the place where the real sensitiveness of your life is lodged? The devil never hurts there, neither sin nor human affection hurts there, nothing goes through to that place but the word of God. "Peter was grieved because Jesus said unto him the third time. . . ." He was awakening to the fact that in the real true centre of his personal life he was devoted to Jesus..."
