Not My Cross, but Yours be done...

Our "Cross" is whatever we are shouldering in life. I did the post below in 2008 and decided to repost when I saw the prompt from Faith Barista for today: "Your Cross". The pictures and poem following says it all.
~~~~~~~~~~
I received this in my email today and thought what an apt illustration it was of God custom designing our particular 'crosses' because He knows what will get us to that point of 'lacking nothing.'
See what happens when we try to take shortcuts?
James 1:2-4 [NIV Version]-
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
We complain about the cross we bear but don't realize
It is preparing us for the dip in the road that God can see and we can't.
Whatever your cross, whatever your pain,
There will always be sunshine, after the rain....
Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall;
But God's always ready, to answer your call....
He knows every heartache, sees every tear,
A word from His lips, can calm every fear...
Your sorrows may linger, throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish, dawn's early light...
The Savior is waiting, somewhere above,
To give you His grace, and send you His love...
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
HI Sita!
My weight loss Bible study group just discussed this very thing last week. A gal asked what it means to "Bear our cross". I'm going to pass this on to her if you don't mind.
Thanks Sita!
Have a great weekend.
love,
Lelia
This is a great illustration and one that will stick in my mind! Thank you for sharing it with your friends! Because of you they can bless others and I am one who has been blessed! Thank you! Happy Easter -- what an awesome Savior we serve!!! Jacki Kment
I love this illustration! Too often, I just want the calm passage. But I am so thankful that He knows exactly what I need. Even the trials I need!
Blessings!
I love this. It's so hard, sometimes impossible, to see that in the middle of a trial. I'm thankful for the times afterward that the Lord shows me what the purpose was. For some, though, I think I'll have to wait until I'm face-to-face with Him to find out!
Thank you, Sita. I was just looking at these illustrations recently. So powerful. God knows exactly what cross we need to draw us closer to Him, doesn't He? This last line is especially encouraging to me today - "God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage."
Hi Trudy, Melissa and Renee,
I found that cartoon depiction quite profound as well. We have to trust that God knows what "crosses" we each need to cross over into freedom.
Blessings to you all :)
What a powerful cartoon! And how true it is! It is only God and God alone that knows what we need...
What an amazing and unique post! :)
Stopping by from Bonnie's today.
