to my beautiful Mommy...

Words cannot describe

the emotions that are evoked

when I look upon your countenance.

My beautiful mother, can it be...

People would look at you

and not comprehend

the sacrifices that you have made...

for your children.

On your wedding day,

people came from far and wide,

for the news of your beauty had spread.

But, you, the youthful bride, had no idea

of the future spread before you.

But...

Your Heavenly Father did.

And because of you, dear mother,

a young woman of Brahmin descent,

now of grafted Abrahamic descent,

a woman God called to Himself

through a travelling evangelist,

because of you, and your heart for the living God,

because of your persistent prayer,

your feisty faith,

a dogged faithfulness,

I am here,

a woman who longs after her God,

who will not let go

no matter how high the waves rise,

simply because my mother prayed.

I honour you, dear Mommy,

for no one but God knows,

that you literally lay down your life

for your children.

May the God Who knows and sees all

overwhelm you with

His loving kindness today and everyday

for the rest of your life.
