***Updated to put the YouTube clip with him singing "The Wonder of it All"
=========================
"Of all the gospel singers in the world today, the one that I would rather hear than any other would be George Beverly Shea."
-Billy Graham (Evangelist) Montreat, North Carolina
"If we've ever had a model in the field of Christian music, it would have to be George Beverly Shea. From a spiritual, musical and professional perspective, he has been the epitome of what a gospel singer should be. I really treasure the personal times that I have spent with Bev in the studio."
-Bill Gaither (Singer-Songwriter), Alexandria, Indiana
Next Sunday, George Beverly Shea turns 100 years old. Click here to send him your wishes.
Did you all know that Mr. Shea is a Canadian? Yay! From Winchester, Ontario, near Ottawa.
I grew up in Trinidad hearing his voice singing at Billy Graham crusades. My parents love him dearly. I just saw a clip of him singing "The Wonder Of It All" on the 100 Huntley Street program today, January 29, 2009. (see below) Wow! To hear him sing that old hymn which he composed ..."the wonder of it all...just to know that God loves me..." It just makes me realize that even though this man glows with God's glory, he realizes profoundly the 'wonder' still that God loves me. The older I get, it is the more my sinful state is ever before me, and the more I grasp the concept of grace, the wonder that God loves me.
There's the wonder of sunset at evening,
The wonder as sunrise I see;
But the wonder of wonders
that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves me.
Refrain
O, the wonder of it all!
The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.
O, the wonder of it all!
The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.
Verse 2
There's the wonder of springtime and harvest,
The sky, the stars, the sun;
But the wonder of wonders
that thrills my soul
Is a wonder that's only begun.
Happy Blessed Birthday, Mr. Shea!

I haven't heard that name in years. But as I read your post pleasant memories came to mind of time spent around the radiowith my parents, my grandmother and my brother, listening to the Billy Graham show and singing along with the man himself, George Beverly Shea.
100 years. What a blessing! What a life! What a legacy. May he still be amazed at the wonder of it all.
I grew up on Billy Graham and George Beverly Shea! Thank you so much Sita for bringing the upcoming birthday to our attention. I also appreciate your sharing over at my place today - I'm working on a post about the positives of elderhood that I hope you will find encouraging. Personally, I'm praying for Jesus to come and get us before I have to face that phase of life!
I also listened to G B Shea on the radio growing up. I love his song I 'd rather have Jesus.
My goodness heis 100 years old!I suppose he still sings.
What a beautiful tribute to George Beverly Shea. My husband really likes his, too. We've heard him the few times that Billy Graham came to our country on evangelistic tours. George is a powerful singer and has impacted many lives for Jesus. We will hear more of him singing praises to God in heaven, that's for sure.
That was totally amazing, if he is 100 years old there with that stong voice! That was a beautiful song he wrote. I enjoyed that.
WOW!! Can I be doing that when I am 100??!!!.... the GOOD Lord willing!
Actually, I believe they were replaying a clip of when he was on their show about 6 years ago..so at 94..still pretty remarkable!
Thanks for posting about Bev Shea on his 100th birthday. Today, as I write, is his 101st! I invite you to take a look at my blog article about him, with a video clip.
