It shall be light...

It shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. (Zechariah 14:7)
This was the verse in my Oswald Chambers' devotional today. How comforting it was to me as the blanket of snow covered the land and seemed to cloak my spirit as well. At this time of year, depression hits hard and the simplest tasks become monumental. However, I am seeing growth, as the lessons God has been teaching me are painstakingly applied in a sustaining manner. I wished all day for a friendly word of encouragement from a friend, but all was quiet, both the phone and email. I waited. He waited. Finally, I caught on. "Dear Lord, how faithful You are...and how obtuse I am. You have been teaching me that You are sufficient, You satisfy. Yet here I sit waiting for another. That is why I am amazed that You bother. Yet You do. Thank You."
Chambers concludes with these words: "This promise should assist our patience. The light may not fully come till our hopes are quite spent by waiting all day to no purpose. To the wicked the sun goes down while it is yet day: to the righteous the sun rises when it is almost night. May we not with patience wait for that heavenly light, which may be long in coming but is sure to prove itself well worth waiting for?"
Father, for those who are in the 'evening' process where it seems cloaked in darkness, please let Your Holy Spirit pierce through with the light of the Truth that it shall be light. Come soon and fill us with the joy of Your Presence. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
