Then Sings My Soul Saturday

The other day, my husband played one of his favorite albums and it brought back such sweet memories. It was a time that was bittersweet. A time when I was hurting, but a time when I felt God's grace in tangible form. A time when I was ministering to and was ministered to by International Student Ministry (IVCF), both at York U and the U of Toronto. This man's voice brought such a peaceful balm to my spirit as he sang Psalms of worship and praise.

His name is
John Michael Talbot and he is better known in Roman Catholic circles as a singer-guitarist. His early rock style has changed, ..."Talbot now has a more reflective, meditative style that combines his crystal-clear tenor vocals with his magnificent classical guitar. He is best known for creating albums designed for worship and quiet meditation..." His current lifestyle has been greatly influenced by St. Francis of Assisi. Hope you are drawn into God's peace as you listen.

Refrain: (From Psalm 95)
Come, and worship the Lord, for we are his people the flock that he shepherds. Alleluia.

1. Come, let us sing to the Lord, and shout with joy to the rock that saves us. Let us come with thanksgiving, and sing joyful songs to the Lord.

2. Come, let us bow down and worship, bending the knee before the Lord our maker, for we are his people; we are the flock he shepherds.

3. The Lord is God, the mighty God, the great king o'er all other gods. He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the highest mountains as well. He made the sea; it belongs now to him. The dry land, too, was formed by his hand.
Please drop by Amy's to hear more songs that minister.

Very peaceful and soothing, Sita, I enjoyed it. I too like to sing scripture verses. There are some on my music blog and more I need to add.

Hi Sita, there are again more similarities between us as I discovered on your post for today. I found the Lord through the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship , and in the early 80s my husband and I discovered John Michael Talbot, and really loved the way he soothes our spirits with his original songs! Thanks for sharing this song. It does stir up beautiful memories in my heart.

Beautiful! I really needed this peaceful soothing song this morning. Things are crazy at my house....instead of Calgon take me away... I decided to listen to many of God's wonderful talented people. I am so glad I did....truly touched and blessed.

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog today. Yes, I have heard of URBANA, and I have attended a number of IFES conferences in Asia (IFES and IVCF are closely linked - International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) as well as IVCF Missions Conferences, training camps, and graduates fellowships in our country. Yes, you are right about their unspoken creed, a book for every problem. It laid a good foundation for understanding why and what I believe (Rebecca Pippert's Out of the Saltshaker... and Paul Little's Know Why You Believe... plus their handbook Search the Scriptures, and all those schaeffer, cs lewis, jrr tolkien, j. packer and john white books which were "required reading" for our small groups way back in the early 70s! Well, I have graduated from the head stuff to the heart stuff... to everything there is a season! Glad to know you more this way, Sita!
