Your love is the anchor...

Yesterday my sons decided to put The Passion DVD on. I had not seen it since it first came out and I did cry when I first saw it. However, yesterday I could not bear to watch it, it literally hurt so deep down, I was overcome with sobs while I mouthed, "My Jesus". My oldest son immediately had to turn it off. The vision of my Lord willingly giving up Himself to cruel beating and mockery came back while I was worshipping this morning and the old songs had a new layer of meaning that made my worship experience so much more meaningful...
You are my Rock in times of trouble
You lift me up when I fall down
All through the storm, Your love is the anchor,
My Hope is in You alone...
My worship extended into the sermon where our pastor was speaking on The Blueprint for Marriage and mentioned the verse in Genesis that spoke of Adam and Eve being naked and having no shame. He explained that nakedness displays fully the glory of God as he showed 2 amazing close-ups of 2 photos of flowers of exquisite beauty. They needed no clothes. I just thought about the people I admire the most, those who display the glory of God for me, they are all people who are genuine, who bare their hearts with humility. The more masks we wear to hide our flaws, the less God is able to shine through.

Father, so many of us put on our masks to hide and protect us. We have been deceived into thinking that there is something wrong with what You have created. We bear labels put on us by others, some good, some bad. We have forgotten that underneath all the layers is the truth, that we are Yours, knit together by You for Your special purpose; that all our 'seeming' flaws opened to Your light shine forth in exquisite beauty, our unique beauty marks. May all who heard Your Word today know the safety of being real in your Presence. May how You think of them become the anchor of their value so that masks are stripped away one by one. Continue to do this work in me, Lord. Thank You, Jesus for what You underwent for me. Thank You, Father, for allowing Your only Son to suffer and die for me. My heart truly overflows. Be with my friend and family who are grieving the loss of a beloved family member. Surround them with Your grace right now. I love You.

Even though you posted your comment in Sept/07, I just checked it again and it gave me the encouragement I needed today. Thank you, Tami.
