"Live simply so that others may simply live..."

Read more on this thought provoking post on "Poverty" over on Finding Direction which includes a video clip, the $8 Hot Dog, worth viewing. Consider then how you should live. I firmly believe that is why God has allowed financial limitations in our lives in the past several years: to learn how to live simply so that others may simply live as said by Mahatma Gandhi; to forget what the "Joneses" think about us, and wonder how God looks upon me and the way I 'care for' my siblings in the family of God around the world.

I was watching a reality tv show the other night....I'm not even sure the name of it, maybe Georgia Wives. Anyway, it's about the lives of several women who are very wealthy. This one woman is divorced and has two children. She threw a birthday party for her daughter who I believe turned 11 and spent $18,000!!!
Now that just made me crazy. What in the world is there going to be for that child to ever look forward to? I can't even imagine when she turns 16!

Danny & I had several years when we really had to budget and there were times when I had very little to make it to the next pay day.

It was during those times that we learned to budget & our kids learned many life lessons & mainly we learned to really trust God. I also believe my children appreciated everything much more than some kids who got everything they wanted handed to them.

It's really hard for me working at our church to deal with the many calls and people coming by needing help with utility bills, gas, medicine etc. We have a food pantry and that's our main ministry. Some of the people's stories break my heart. We just all do what we can and know that God will provide. This I know...He is faithful!
